Weather in Port Elizabeth and Addo
The climate of Port Elizabeth and Addo is one of the chief attractions of the region. The average temperature from November to April is a pleasant 22 °C. Night temperatures rarely drop below 14 °C, thanks to the city's location in the southern hemisphere. A white Christmas may not be on the cards here, but for European travellers who cannot dream of surfing or boating in December back home, this might just be the place to head to. Indeed, Port Elizabeth's beaches see peak activity during the winter months of the northern hemisphere.
From May to October, the average daytime temperatures in Port Elizabeth hover around 20 °C. Minimum temperature can be around 10 °C - pleasant enough by North American and European standards, although there have been a couple of times in the past when the temperature fell to -1 °C.
The period between March and October sees an average of 60 mm per month of rainfall. This should not deter you from travelling to the region if you have shopping and minor sightseeing on your mind. However, this might not be the best season for outdoor activities.
Addo's climate is not very different from that of Port Elizabeth. The daytime temperature in July is around 20 °C but it can drop to 7 °C at night. February is the warmest time of the year, with daytime temperatures at 28 °C. March is the wettest month and sees 40 mm of rainfall on an average.
