Trout is a favorite species, which is targeted, and there are some record sized fish to be caught in this area. Animal and bird life are abundant in the region with over 350 bird species being counted and a number of rare and interesting plants can also be identified to you while on your fly fishing trip. The town of Somerset East was established in 1825, and as such there is a rich history in the area, which can be explored by visiting the many historical monuments, as well as the Somerset East Museum.
