Amakhala, in Xhosa means Aloes, which is the popular plant found throughout this particular area in South Africa and in the extremely diverse Eastern Cape Province. The reserve is approximately 7,000 hectares big and is an ideal place to experience the true African safari. Leeuwenbosch is a country house that is full of history. The old farm house has been built in 1908. It has been in the Fowld's family since the beginning. The lodge is still run by the family ensuring personal attention to all guests staying at Leeuwenbosch, offering true country living. The Country House consists of 5 rooms with en-suite bathrooms. All rooms are spacious and comfortable. Shearers Lodge has 4 stylish en-suite bedrooms leading out onto a wide colonial verandah. Shearers Lodge was originally built for shearing sheep and classing the wool in 1930 and is now a beautiful Game Lodge.
