Amakhala Game Reserve Leeuwenbosch

Amakhala, in Xhosa means Aloes, which is the popular plant found throughout this particular area in South Africa and in the extremely diverse Eastern Cape Province. The reserve is approximately 7,000 hectares big and is an ideal place to experience the true African safari. Abundant wildlife and an environment that supports them is an ideal setting to experience an Eastern Cape safari.

Leeuwenbosch is a country house that is full of history. The old farm house has been built in 1908. It has been in the Fowld's family since the beginning. The lodge is still run by the family ensuring personal attention to all guests staying at Leeuwenbosch, offering true country living. The Country House consists of 5 rooms with en-suite bathrooms. All rooms are spacious and comfortable. Shearers Lodge has 4 stylish en-suite bedrooms leading out onto a wide colonial verandah. Shearers Lodge was originally built for shearing sheep and classing the wool in 1930 and is now a beautiful Game Lodge.

At Leeuwenbosch the facilities are available for all guests staying either at the Country House or at the Shearers Lodge.

By request only and at managements' discretion.

Policy on children staying with parents:

• Children are welcome at Leeuwenbosch.
• Children under 6 years are not allowed on game drives. Some lodges may make special arrangements for children under 6 but this should be confirmed with the lodge in which you are staying prior to arrival.
• Children aged less than 12 years old, either sharing a room with their parents or in separate room, will be charged 50% of the normal rate, which includes meals, accommodation and game drives.
• Children aged from 12 years old will require a separate room at 100 % of the normal rate.
• Infants under 2 years are free of charge.
• Leeuwenbosch offers family suites in the Country House.

Cancellation Policy:

• 25% of fee if cancelled less than 30 days prior to arrival.
• 50% of fee if cancelled less than 14 days prior to arrival.
• 100% of fee if cancelled less than 48 hours prior to arrival.

Other disclosures:
Rooms may be occupied from 14:00 on the day of arrival. Game drives leave from 14:30, so please ensure that you arrive on time.

Should you not be able to attend lunch on the day of arrival, please inform reservations accordingly.

Rooms must please be vacated by 11h00 on the day of departure for the convenience of arriving guests.

Day room rates are available upon request and are subject to availability.
