Addo National Park and Sunset Cruise Day Tour
Guests start off the day early for a better chance of seeing lions in the Addo National Park. Guests are collected from their place of accommodation in Port Elizabeth. The tour aquires the required permits and pays the conservation levies on the guests' behalf before entering the reserve. Guests have a chance to enjoy a short walk around and 'loo' stop.
A 3-hour drive through the National Park is next, viewing elephants, lions, black rhino, buffalo, zebras, eland, kudu and warthogs amongst many other species of animals and bird life. The tour then returns to the rest camp for refreshments and a picnic lunch, served under the trees overlooking the waterhole. Guests have an opportunity to visit the underground hide for wildlife and bird viewing. After lunch the game drive continues, back through the Addo National Park before exiting and meeting the Ferry on the Sundays River. Everyone boards the Ferry and departs for a sunset cruise on the Sunday River, which lasts between 2.5 and 3 hours. Drinks and snacks will be supplied on board while we slowly cruise, keeping an eye out for birds and wildlife along the way. The cruise may stop to allow guests to climb the shifting sand dunes, where we can watch the sun disappearing over Algoa Bay. There is a possibility of sighting some of the many whales that seasonally visit this large protected bay, jumping in the distance. Soon after sunset, the group will depart for the return to Port Elizabeth, having enjoyed an eventful day in the Eastern Cape.
