Addo Elephant Back Safaris and Lodge is a mere 20-minute flight or 1 hour 20 minute road transfer from Port Elizabeth and only 1 hour's flying time from Plettenberg Bay. The added convenience of our 1,200m airstrips makes it possible for guests to fly in with family, friends or colleagues directly to the Lodge, ensuring more time there than getting there!

The tented eco-Lodge has been designed to blend discreetly into its surrounding valley bushveld environment, the remarkably spacious and sophisticated suites - some nestled in the Yellowwood forest and others set on a hillside offering extraordinary views - are elevated on wooden decks, each with an outdoor spa bath. Luxuriously decorated, this is an oasis of calm affording quiet reflection against the tranquil backdrop of the African bush where giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and eland browse and graze at your doorstep. All the meals of the day can be enjoyed at our open-sided restaurant overlooking a small dam, which if you are fortunate you will see the elephants enjoying a swim. The restaurant area incorporates a bar area and an open-air boma, all overlooking the elephants' much loved waterhole.

Walk with or ride the elephants, enjoying a unique experience through the diverse habitat in the Zuurburg Mountains, a safari guaranteed not to disappoint! This encounter with the elephants and their grooms will educate guests on the daily functioning of an elephant population and how elephant emotions and behaviors work. Guests will leave this experience with a new found respect for the African Elephant.

Addo Elephant Back Safaris & Lodges offers various activities and facilities in the Addo region. They are the only elephant back operators in the area and offer this service to all guests and day visitors.

A fly-in service is also offered which will ensure more time at the lodge than getting there.

Late check out policy:
Late check-out is subject to availability and at managers' discretion.

Policy on children staying with parents:

• Children between 3 and 12 years old sharing with parents or in their own room are charged 50% of the adult rate.
• No extra charge for children between 0 and 3 years old sharing with parents' room.

Cancellation Policy:

• 25% if less than 30 days prior arrival.
• 50% if less than 15 days prior arrival.
• 100% if less than 7 days prior arrival.

Other disclosures:

• All rates quoted are Nett, including 14% VAT.
• Rates are quoted per person per night sharing.
• A 50% supplement applies to rooms with single occupancy.
• Rates are subject to change without prior notice.
