The 7-day tour consists of verious aspects of the Eastern Cape. For example there is a visit to a cultural village where you will learn the traditional customs and traits of the Xhosa people who are the local people in this area. The tour also visits the township close to East London which is the second largest in South Africa after Soweto. The tour visits the towns of Port Alfred, Bathurst, Grahamstown, Cradock and Graaff Reinet which exposes the different ecosystems and the diversity that can be found in the Eastern Cape. Guests are looked after by their guide throughout the tour. Guests can also opt for the self drive option where they can enjoy all this in the comfort of their own rental vehicle offering flexibility on tour.

Itinerary

Day 1:

Arrive in East London and enjoy the evening at a restaurant with your guide for dinner

Day 2:

Guests are collected for the day
Visit to a cultural village outside of East London.
Lunch
A township tour with a local guide.
Dinner

Day 3:

Guests depart East London and travel along the coast to Port Alfred and then inland to Grahamstown, visiting some attractions en-route
Lunch
Enjoy the sights in the area
Check in your hotel for the night

Day 4:

Depart after breakfast for a historical tour of the area with a local historian guide
Travel to the Addo National Park and enjoy an evening game drive
Dinner

Day 5:

Enjoy the morning Game Drive
Breakfast, depart for Cradock
Enjoy the drive into this karoo area
Dinner at your accommodation

Day 6:

Depart after breakfast for Graaff Reinet where you will spend the night
Enjoy visiting this the 3 oldest town in South Africa
Visit the valley of desolation and enjoy sundowners with your guide
Dinner in the Drodsty Hotel

Day 7:

Depart for Port Elizabeth after breakfast

Cancellation policy

General

The conditions set out below apply to each and every safari/tour. Reference or mention of the 'operator' means Lyon Tours & Safaris cc (No: 2008/059879/23). The transport, meals, entrance fees, accommodation or other facilities or services which are to be supplied in respect of any tour or safari are those specifically stated on the website, in the tour brochure or tour/safari itinerary.

Costs

Lyon Tours & Safaris cc quotations are based on anticipated costs and are subject to amendment should these anticipated costs increase due to circumstances outside the control of the operator.

Deposit/Payments/Booking

A 25 % non-refundable deposit is required upon booking a safari or tour and the balance is payable no later than 30 days prior to the departure of the safari and/or tour. In the event of a booking less than 30 days prior to the start of the tour/safari, payment in full is to be made upon booking the safari or tour. Any booking without the aforesaid payment shall be unenforceable and unconfirmed.

Cancellation

If the reservation is cancelled by the client, cancellation fees will be due and payable according to the following:

30 to 45 days prior to planned departure date, a refund of the amount will paid in excess of the non-refundable deposit
21 to 30 days prior to the planned tour departure date, a refund of the amount will paid in excess of the non-refundable deposit plus 25%
20 days or less to the planned tour departure date, no refund

If the reservation is cancelled by the operator, who reserves the right to do so in its discretion, then the full amount paid, shall be refunded to the client.

Refunds

Once the tour/safari has commenced, refunds will not be made for missed tours, meals or other special activities.

Children Policy

Children are welcome. Rates are to be discussed with the oporator at the time of booking.

Participant Guidelines

Lyon Tours & Safaris recommends guests to take the following items:

Warm clothing for winter and nights
Light weight clothing for summer days
Sunscreen, hats, walking shoes, sandals
Camera, binoculars
Any additional items guests may feel they may require

Other Disclosures

The following conditions apply to this tour:

A minimum of 2 pax are required for this tour to be conducted
50% deposit required on booking and 100% payment and 30 days prior to departure
